Question

Asked by: jkbakamd
Subject: Torpedo Gyroscopes
Question: I'm looking for anyone with a working knowledge of WWII MK 12-1 Torpedo Gyroscopes # 52202 and 52430. I picked these up on eBay as a future birthday gift and am interested in cleaning and polishing them which, to be thorough, would need to be disassembled. This idea brought back memories of taking apart my moms toaster when I was twelve to see how it worked. My attempts to reassemble it resulted in a new family toaster. But I digress. I am looking for any manuals or diagrams of the units. They are similar in appearance with the only noticeable difference being in the base plate. They both spin freely and the main difference is that the 52202 is a green metal and the 52430 appears to be steel or stainless steel (high gloss silver in color). Are the inner workings compatible with one another? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
